"When do I begin training?", you might ask. When you have
chosen a specific time for training, then you are ready to
start. The best time, in my opinion, for training is on a
Wednesday evening during the Teachers'/Workers' Meeting.

Priorities will have to be established by the pastor and
church leadership. Is the music, the pastor's message, or
the growth of the church the most important thing the
church does? What is the priority?

G. B. Vick pastored the Detroit Baptist Temple. At one
time, it was the second largest church in America. Dr. Vick
understood the importance of everything revolving around
the Sunday School; so he, like most of the growing churches
today, gave most of the Wednesday night service to the
training of the hundreds of workers in that great church.

Keep in mind, the number one cause for failure is found in
this statement: "When a man's desire is to stay the way he
is, he will never be what he can be." Once again, establish
the priority. If change is not possible in your church,
then you may have wasted your money in buying this
material.

Ron Schaffer states the need very well:
You must set up a systematic system of teacher training in
your church. If you do not do this, you set yourself up
for discouragement, confusion, burnout, etc.

* Have a Friday night and Saturday training program
(seminar)and bring in a good Sunday School person to do the
training. Do this annually or even semi-annually. Bringing
in an outsider is very effective as he will deal with the
total program without fear of offending. There is also the
effect of him being better received because he is portrayed
as a Sunday School "expert".

*Have a Worker's Retreat at a nearby camp.

*Attend Sunday School conferences. It is worth a four-hour
drive and a $100.00 fee, if you get excited about your
Sunday School and its potential.

Trained workers get excited about their jobs. They find joy
in teaching. They accomplish more.
